Description:
Note: THIS COIN HAS BEEN STOLEN IN UK. Indian temple copper token (Ramatankas), c. 1850s ~ 1890s (?), was token that depict Hindu gods, typically scenes of Rama and Sita, from which their name is derived. They were struck in various metals and sold at temples as gifts or presentation pieces to help with the upkeep. Obv.: Rama and his consort Sita on dais with three attendants, one holding parasol; Hanuman seated left beneath dais. Rev.: Rama and Lakshmana standing, legend around.
