very scarce jeton minted for the `Compagnie de Remorquage du Senegal', a french owned tug/ maritime salvage company operating out of Dakar, Senegal. The jeton carries the `abeille' assay mark, confirming it as an original and struck sometime between 1860 and 1879 and issued to directors / shareholders of the company. There are later re-strikes with the cornucopia assay mark (after 1880). This example has a loop edge mounting, but is otherwise in an excellent collectable condition.
