| SEATED LIBERTY DIME. The 1859 proof is a scarce issue with a mere 800 minted, many of which were unsold and ultimately melted. This attractive near gem example exhibits beautiful classic album toning. The reverse is bulls-eye toned in various shades of green blue and burgundy, with a fully brilliant center. The obverse exhibits somewhat darker and warmer shades of the same colors. A rather obtrusive planchet flaw cuts across Liberty's torso, likely the limiting factor on the grade. |
