| Pomfret Castle on obverse of 1648 Charles I Pontefract shilling. Crowned inscription 'HANC DEUS DEDIT' on reverse. This coin was isseud for Charles II, but is dated 1648. Charles I died on December 30th 1649, making this coin something of an anachronism! |
