George William De Saulles designed both sides of the Edward VII florin, used for the entire short reign from 1902 to 1910. Britannia standing, with trident, shield, helmet, and long flowing tunic, with its cape blowing in the breeze. For some reason, it had never dawned on us that she is also shown standing on the bow of a ship, with its prow to the right. The sea can be clearly seen behind her.
