| Proof sovereign of 1980. This year the Royal Mint also started issuing gold 4 coins proof sets, from half sovereign to five pounds. All 4 designs are theoretically identical, but it is usually possible to tell photographs of them apart because of different spacing and the proportion of the design motif to the whole flan. |
