The 2009 British gold sovereign has a 'new' recut reverse, but the dies were prepared using 'original Victorian tools' according to the Royal Mint, possibly including some worked on the Benedetto Pistrucci himself. We show a comparison of 2009, 2008, and 2007 sovereign reverses on our 'Gold Sovereigns' website. We only just collected our first 5,000 sovereigns today, after a 500 mile round trip, so have not yet had chance to study to obverses (we have recycled one), they are probably unchanged.
