HKMAL collection
Ghost Tian Qi. Ming dynasty (1368-1644), Emperor Xi Zong, Tian Qi era (1620-27), Ghost 'Tian Qi Tong Bao'. 2.8g, Brass, 21.9mm. This is the very special & scarcer Ghost variety. Several ancient descriptions: 1) 4 words combine together, look like a ghost face. 2) This variety is designed for dead people (hell money, but not logical). 3) In Japanese, 'Ghost' can mean weird, i.e. weird calligraphy. For me, the 'Qi' (6 o'clock) looks like ghost face. What do you think? It's a very interesting coin.
