1897 Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee Gold Medal. These official medals were made in 22ct gold, and sterling silver, each in 2 sizes, plus bronze or copper in large size. This is 56mms diameter, weighs 93 grams = AGW 2.75 ounces. For high relief and definition, medallions like this beat the hell out of most coins, yet are not universally popular, probably because they are rarer, and not many collectors ever get to see them. We believe many get melted down by ignorant jewellers.
