| Rare silver jeton issued for the `Huissiers a Cheval au Chatelet', Engraved by Trebuchet. The `Huissiers' (ushers) were the enforcers (baillifs) of the court judgements issued at Le Chatelet, Paris. The `Huissiers a Cheval' were more elite and dealt with the more significant court judgements, with a remit from the Paris suburbs and throughout the French realm, as opposed to merely the centre of Paris. The engraver `Trebucher' is unknown to me and not cited in Feuardent or Mitchiner. |
