Gold medallion struck by John Pinches, re-creating the seal of Simon de Monfort, famous for the first Parliament. The reverse states 700th anniversary of the Parliament of Simon de Montfort 1265. This is slightly odd as his first Parliament was set up in 1258, and he died in 1265, but he is still remembered as the Father of the House of Commons.
