In 1992, the sizes (diameters and weights) of the relatively new tenpences were reduced. The early large type had been the same specification as the old pre-decimal shilling, diameter 28.50 mms, weight 11.31 grams; the new smaller coins are 24.50 mms, and 6.50 grams. A pair set of silver proofs was issued, one of each size, designs are identical.
