The quarter sovereign is a new British coin denomination. Obviously it resembles its big brother, the sovereign, but is smaller, and has a face value of 25 pence, 5 (old) shillings. The release date is February 17th 2009. Our images are an actual sovereign, with an artist's impression of the reverse. We have been officially informed that the designs of all 5 members of the sov family will have slight differences in their design details this year. Two pattern quarters were produced in 1853.
